As of September 25, 2023, an architect has been selected and this project is in the early design phase. It is anticipated construction could start late 2024 or early 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Recent research in regard to the treatment and behavior of mentally and physically challenged individuals has shown that a more home-like environment enhances treatment and improves behavior. For this project the interior walls, HVAC system, plumbing and electrical distribution will be demolished. The interior will be reconfigured to better accommodate the residents and staff. The building will be retrofitted with thermally efficient glazing. To provide space for HVAC equipment and ductwork a pitched structure will be added to the building and a standing seam metal roof installed over this structure. Extensive landscaping will be done to achieve ADA compliance and to improve aesthetics. In order to offer architectural, engineering, or landscape architectural services in response to this solicitation, the proposing firm must be properly licensed to practice Architecture, Engineering, or Landscape Architecture in the State of North Carolina. Due to COVID-19, we are working remotely. No paper copies are required to be submitted. In the interest of cost-savings to the designers, consistency of the submittals and more efficient use of time by the pre-selection committee, the submitted information package should not include any notebooks, binders, tab, clips, etc. The format should be 8-1/2" x 11" pages stapled in the upper left-hand corner. The Letter of Interest should not exceed ten (10) single-sided pages or five (5) double-sided pages plus the SF 254. Fax submittals will not be accepted The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
