Switlick and Sons was awarded this project. The overall description of the project, to be completed under one contract, is the reconstruction of approximately 1,225 feet of an urban street section. In general, the work includes removal of existing drive aprons, sidewalk, curb/gutter and pavement, and the reconstruction of the roadway with drain tile, base course, curb/gutter, aprons, sidewalk, pavement, and replacement of sewer and water laterals. An alternate bid will include the base bid as well as replacement of the sanitary sewer and water mains. The project start date is May 15, 2023 and the substantial completion date is set at August 15, 2023. The approximate units of the major work items are as follows: 1) Remove existing asphalt, curb, aprons and sidewalk - 6,470 sq. yds. 2) Base course - 2,950 cu. yds. 3) Concrete curb and gutter - 2,340 feet 4) Concrete sidewalk and apron - 1,190 sq. yds. 5) 4" draintile - 2,320 feet 6) Asphalt pavement - 1,095 tons 7) Lateral replacement - 14 each Alternate: 1) 8" PVC Sanitary Sewer - 920 feet 2) 6" C-900 Watermain - 950 feet This project is not subject to State of Wisconsin prevailing wage rates. Portions of this project will be funded with Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) funding. No bids shall be considered unless submitted on the official Proposal form. Bids shall be submitted with a minimum 5% Bid Bond. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the actual time of opening the bids. A performance bond and a payment bond, each in the amount of 100 percent (100%) of the total bid price, together with an executed agreement in the form prescribed by the village, will be required of the successful bidder. The Village of Athens reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality in the bidding, and to award the contract in the best interest of the village.
