Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Evanston, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
The project is part of a broader HVAC modernization effort for the historic Noyes Cultural Arts Center, originally built in 1892. The City of Evanston hired Salas O’Brien to conduct a feasibility study, completed in February 2024. The study includes: HVAC system modernization options Life cycle cost analysis Drawings and equipment recommendations Strategies to align with the city’s Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP) while preserving the building’s historic character The city is planning a two-phase renovation, including: Full HVAC and ventilation system overhaul ADA compliance upgrades This project is in included in the City of Evanston FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 26, 2025, construction could begin as early as 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
