Soo Locks Electrical Duct Bank and Feeders - The work includes construction of new duct bank and manholes from Magazine Street Substation to a new manhole above Shaft #1 and new cable tray and supports within shaft 1 and the services tunnel to a splice point between Shafts #3 and4. New feeders will be installed in this route and existing feeder cables will be demolished and removed. This project replaces the existing unreliable feeders which have failed several times in the past.Soo Lock Generator - The work includes construction of a new natural gas fueled back-up generator system along with removal of the existing back-up generators, and associate diesel fuel storage and distribution system. The new generator system includes 6,448 square foot load bearing CMU and brick veneer building to house the generators, switchgear, and control equipment. The new build will be adjacent to the Magazine Street Substation, in the Depot Lot at the conner of Magazine Street and Portage Avenue. This project provides reliable standby power to the Soo Locks Complex. The work includes construction of new duct bank and manholes from Magazine Street Substation to a new manhole above Shaft #1 and new cable tray and supports within shaft 1 and the service tunnel to a splice point between Shafts #3 and #4. New feeders will be installed in this route and existing feeder cables will be demolished and removed. No cables that have been disconnected or are unused at the completion of the work shall be abandoned in place. The work also includes construction of a 6,448 sq.ft. building housing three standby generators for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Soo Locks property. Work includes the load bearing CMU and brick veneer building, standby generators, ancillary equipment, site work, utilities and incidental related work as full described in contract documents.
