Demolition, site work and renovation of a civil project in Durham, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 7,900-square-foot water / sewer project; for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Project involves the furnishing of all materials, labor, equipment, tools, etc. unless otherwise specified, for the complete installation of a 1.57 MGD regional lift station, approximately 2,900 LF of 8-inch to 12-inch collection system, approximately 3,200 LF of 10-inch force main, and approximately 1,800 LF of 15-inch gravity system, and demolition of three existing lift stations. The foregoing description shall not be construed as a complete description of all work required. Each Bidder must be licensed under Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Bidders must conform with the provisions of the North Carolina Contractors Licensing Act of 1925, as amended. All Bids must include a non-collusion affidavit. The City of Durham requires the Project to be substantially completed within 820 consecutive calendar days, and completed within 850 calendar days from date of Notice to Proceed. No Bid shall be considered or accepted unless at the time of its filing the same shall be accompanied by a deposit of cash or a certified or cashiers check drawn on a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the Bid. The check shall be made payable to the City of Durham. Said deposit shall guarantee that the Contract will be entered into by the successful Bidder if the award is made. Such deposit of cash or certified or cashier's check may be held by the City until the successful Bidder has executed and delivered the Contract Documents, including performance and payment bond, to the City of Durham and returned or kept in accordance with North Carolina General Statute 143-129. Refer to other Bidding requirements described in Document 00 21 15. In lieu of the cash deposit or certified or cashiers check mentioned above, the Bidder may file a Bid bond in the same amount executed by a corporate surety authorized to execute such bonds in North Carolina and conditioned as provided by North Carolina General Statute 143-129 and in the form attached to the Bidding Documents (see Appendix F) or on file with the Engineer. Bid bond forms enclosed as part of the Bidding Documents must be properly executed at the time Bids are submitted before Bid will be considered. Properly executed Power of Attorney of the corporate surety's agent shall accompany such bond and be attached to the page provided therefore in the Bidding Documents. Bids shall be submitted under a condition of irrevocability, except as required by law, for a period of ninety (90) days after Bid opening. The City of Durham reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, to waive any and all informalities, and to disregard all nonconforming or conditional Bids or counter Bids, and to accepts the Bid that will be in the best interest of the City of Durham. a. New Regional Lift Station, Collection Sewer, Force Main, and Gravity Sewer 1. Installation of erosion control measures and tree protection. 2. Clearing of limits of construction and tree removal. 3. Coordination with private utilities and utility relocation. 4. The installation and continuous implementation of bypass pumping systems. 5. Traffic control. 6. Demolition and disposal of lift station structures and equipment at all three (3) sites, existing abandoned treatment plant structures at Parkwood Lift Station, and portions of existing gravity sewer and force main piping. 7. Filling and grading of existing abandoned retention pond. 8. Removal, loading/ transportation/ unloading of the existing generators to the Owner identified location. 9. Installation of approximately 2,900 LF of new 8-inch and 12-inch upstream collection sewer and manholes from new regional lift station location to existing Newhall and Elmset lift station locations, approximately 3,200 LF of 10-inch force main from new regional lift station to discharge manhole, and approximately 1,800 LF of 15-inch downstream gravity system piping and manholes from reconnection of existing 30-inch sewer system to force main discharge location. 10. Grading of improved lift station access drive and turn around. 11. Excavation, shoring, and dewatering for installation of below ground lift station structures and piping. 12. Installation of the new 1.57 MGD regional lift station. 13. Coating of the new wet well and grinder vault. 14. Coating of the new manholes as part of the new downstream gravity system. 15. Abandonment of the existing 8-inch force main. 16. Site restoration including grading, plantings, seeding and mulching, pavement, concrete driveway, and curb and gutter. b. Single prime contract c. Lump sum for lift station work and Unit Price for pipeline work.
