Renovation of an educational facility in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Town of Chelmsford, Massachusetts solicits sealed bids for the following:Purchase, delivery and start up of new kitchen equipment for the remodel and upgrade of the kitchens at McCarthy Middle and Chelmsford High School . All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Deposit in the amount of 5% of the total bid. This may be a certified check or bid bond, payable to the Town of Chelmsford The Town of Chelmsford reserves the right to waive any informality and/or to reject any or all bids if deemed to be in the best interest of the Town Questions should be emailed and addressed to Christine Clancy, DPW Director at CClancey@chelmsfordma.gov. All questions must be submitted by Thursday, March 30th, 2023, 4pm. Written responses to questions will be emailed to anyone who has registered for and obtained copies of the request for proposal document no later than Monday, April 3rd ,2023, 4pm FOOD SERVICE EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER Requirements for the Food Service Equipment Supplier include but are not limited to the scope of work listed below. The Equipment Supplier is required to coordinate and work with the General Contractor during the installation, set up and startup of equipment. The bid for the construction of the kitchen build out will be bid separately performed under MGL c. 149 - Building Construction Contract. o Bidder to include the purchase and sale of kitchen equipment. o Bidder to include the delivery of equipment to job site, including forklift or lift gate. Vendor responsible for off- loading kitchen equipment. o Bidder required to set in place and level equipment in location, per plan. Make ready for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing hooks up by General Contractor. o Bidder to coordinate all deliveries, set up and start up with the General Contractor. o Bidder to include Owner's training on all new kitchen equipment at both Chelmsford High School and McCarthy Middle School. IV. INSTALLATION & CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE A. Award to Equipment Supplier April 12, 2023 B. Notice to Proceed April 12,2023 C. Meeting with Architect & Owner April 14, 2023 D. Construction Start Date June 19, 2023 E. Equipment Delivery Date July 28, 2023 F. Equipment Installation Start Date July 31, 2023 G. Equipment Start Up August 14, 2023 V. CHANGES AND SUBSTITUTIONS a. Substitute equipment may be proposed as an "as equal" but shall be in addition to the "as specified" contract documents and separately proposed. It will be identified as "alternates" with equipment costs shown separately and apart from thecosts of the equipment "as specified." b. Equivalency inquality,performance, construction, and function shall be demonstrated by submitting, as applicable or required by the Architect, the following: a. Technical datasheets and specifications; including all required equipment accessories required for installation. b. Technical information and equipment test data. c. List of advantages to the Owner. d. Cost and substantive difference between the alternate and specified equipment in the contract documents. c. When the construction phase begins under a separate contract, the contract documents will follow the procurement guidelines of MGL c. 149. During the construction phase is the responsibility of the Bidder to determine if any additions and/or revisions may apply and notify the owner of any discrepancies as soon as possible. d. Consideration in the bidding for a proposed substitute will be given only if, in the opinion of the Town Staff, Head of the School Foodservice Program and Architect agree that, the substitute is equal. e. No changes shall be made tothe work, nor will invoices for changes, alterations, modifications, deviations, or substitutions be paid, except upon written approval by the Architect and Owner. f. When a formal numbered specification is referred to in this invitation, no deviation will be permitted and the bidder will be required to furnish articles in conformity with that specification. g. Each bidder must identify the process in which installation, product training and certification will take place in conjunction with the project timeline. h. Each bidder must also indicate and provide acknowledgement and responsibility for owner-provided equipment as indicated on the drawings and equipment schedule. i. All listed specifications and any proposed alternate specifications will be required to meet the existing conditions of utility services provided at both school locations. See below details: a. McCarthy Middle School i. (1) 200A panel and (1) 100A panel both 120/208V 3- phase. ii. Low Pressure Natural Gas provided. b. Chelmsford High School i. (2) 200A at 120/208V 3-phase. ii. (1) 600A at 277/480V 3-phase. iii. Low Pressure Natural Gas provided
