Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in West Point, Virginia. Working plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.
**As of March , 2023, bids received were over the budget. Project will rebid but no definite date yet.** The Virginia Department of Forestry is seeking a contractor to perform a foliar herbicide treatment within a designated stand on the Sandy Point State Forest located in King William County. Sandy Point State Forest Sandy Point Road West Point VA. 23181 Past the end of State maintenance and beyond a locked gate with a combination of 2-0-1-5 Access the stand from Big Pine Forest Road. The work consists of treating one stand totaling 15 acres based upon the following specifications and as identified on the attached maps with treatment boundary marked with pink flagging or via a road. Treat all understory Sweetgum, Red Maple, American Holly, and Mountain Laurel shorter than 6 feet tall with basal or foliar herbicide application. Oaks and Yellow Poplar are not to be treated and care taken to avoid damage to them. The targeted stems are in the understory of a mixed hardwood forest. Herbicide must be selected that will not volatilize and damage overstory tree The successful bidder is required to check-in with the State Forest Manager, Dennis Gaston at 804-840-5493, prior to starting work.
