Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Washington, Iowa. Completed plans call for the addition of a 17,100-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

Scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following: Aluminum framed storefront, glazing, and aluminum doors for the three additions to the existing High School located at 1111 S B Avenue, Washington, IA 52353. This bid is for Bid Package No. 8 only. All other Bid Packages have already been awarded. Three additions to the existing High School located at 1111 S B Avenue, Washington, IA 52353. The first addition is a two-story 25,100 square feet building that will be adjacent to the west wing of the high school, and will provide corridors, classrooms, a culinary arts lab, art room, restrooms, offices, and a conference room. The second addition will be a 17,100 square foot building built at the end of the North wing, and will provide additional corridors, classrooms, a band room, restrooms, teacher work rooms, and offices. The third addition will be an 11,000 square foot gym addition built at the Southeast corner of the facility next to the existing gyms. The addition will include a gym, restrooms, and athletic storage spaces. The structure for these additions will primarily be CMU walls with metal joist and deck. The gym addition will also include precast walls. The exterior finish will be primarily facebrick veneer with aluminum storefront windows and entrances. Site improvements will include a new drive at the Northwest corner of the lot, a parking lot expansion East of the facility, and a small parking lot within the circle drive East of the facility. The lowest responsible bidder(s) will be required to furnish satisfactory Certificates and Policies of Insurance, Labor and Material Payment Bond and Performance Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract amount, and any other documents as stated in the Construction Documents. The Washington Community School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities, and to enter such contracts as it deems in the best interest of the District. Bidders shall be prepared to submit a performance bond and payment bond conditioned on the faithful performance of the contract. Out-of-state bidders shall be prepared to submit an Out-of-State Contractor Bond to the Iowa Division of Labor in accordance with Chapter 91C of the Code of Iowa. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor to the extent lawfully required under Iowa law. Iowa law provides that on public improvements a resident bidder shall be allowed preference as against a nonresident bidder from a state or foreign country which gives or requires a preference to bidders from that state or foreign country. The preference so allowed shall be equivalent to the preference given or required by the state or foreign country in which the nonresident bidder is a resident. It is the intent of the Owner to award a contract or multiple contracts to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder provided the bid has been submitted in accordance with the bidding requirements.
