Renovation of a municipal facility in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The Topeka Housing Authority ("THA") currently owns and manages 744 Public Housing units in ten apartment complexes located throughout the City of Topeka Kansas. These properties are a mix of townhomes, duplexes, cottages, and elevated structures. HUD now requires all Federally Assisted Homes to have a working Carbon Monoxide Detector in the home. THA is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to install new carbon monoxide detectors in each home. The purpose of the RFP is to competitively procure contractor services outlined in the Scope of Work section of this RFP. THA is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors. THA is currently seeking a contractor to install combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in every unit. The status of carbon monoxide detectors in the potentially impacted units, including whether carbon monoxide detectors currently exist and, if so, the need for repair or replacement. The majority of THA public housing units do not currently have carbon monoxide detectors. However, three of the THA properties, Echo Ridge, Tennessee Town I & II have existing carbon monoxide detectors which have exceeded their expected functional life (5-7 years) and need replacement. We anticipate less than 5% of the homes will require an electrician complete the installation.
