Site work and asbestos abatement for a mixed-use development in Sardis, Tennessee. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.
The Town of Sardis, Tennessee will receive bids for removal and disposal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) from a specific structure known as the Old Sardis School Building located at 4540 Henderson Road. Removal and disposal of asbestos materials must meet all federal, state, and local requirements. The one building 4540 Henderson Road (Old School Building) is in Sardis, Henderson County, Tennessee. The structure is constructed of wood frame with brick exterior and has concrete slab foundation with a basement & crawlspace. The building was originally constructed in 1940 and has approximately 14,000 s.f.. The entire school is in very poor condition. The identification of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) is performed by collecting bulk samples of suspect materials and having those samples analyzed by a laboratory. ACM are those material found to contain greater than one percent asbestos by calibrated visual area estimation (CVAE) using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). Bulk sampling is a procedure in which representative homogeneous sampling areas in a structure are identified and then sampled. A homogeneous sampling area is defined as an area that contains material of the same type (uniform in color and texture) and is applied during the same general time period. Once the homogeneous sampling areas are identified, bulk samples of suspect materials are obtained at the discretion of our inspectors, based on site conditions and past experience. The contractor is responsible for all notifications and fees for the asbestos removal, if applicable. The Town will provide an electronic version of the report. The bid for removal and disposal will be based on the information provided in the National Econ report. Bids shall be identified on the exterior of the sealed envelope with all the information required by law, including the name of the project and the bidder's name, address and license number (if applicable). Payment shall be for the entire contract amount after completion of all work and acceptance by the Town. The Owner reserves the right to waive any irregularities or reject any or all bids.
