Saving Project...

This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Coralville, Iowa. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

The Coralville Timber Stand Improvement Project seeks to address non-native invasive species in targeted areas by manually removing species and chemically treating stumps. The Coralville Timber Stand Improvement Project seeks to address non-native invasive species and nonnative tree growth in targeted areas of Coralville forests and to manage these forested stands in a way that encourages native tree populations for future generations to enjoy. This project focuses on the understory growth in the forested stands by manually removing and treating invasive species such as honeysuckle, oriental bittersweet, multiflora rose, burning bush, wild barberry, buckthorn, and other non-native invasive bushes, vines, or young saplings. The City of Coralville seeks to hire a contractor who will use several mechanical techniques including use of a fecon head, brush hog, or in some locations, cutting and treating with an appropriate herbicide. The goal is to greatly reduce these populations and treat for regrowth so that the forested areas can be managed by Coralville forestry staff and the areas can be accessed by the public for outdoor recreation enjoyment. Coralville Parks & Recreation is accepting quotes for the project which will follow a three-step prescription process outlined in the attached documents. The prescription, developed in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, requires the contractor to conduct a timber stand improvement that involves both mechanical removal and chemical treatment of the listed non-native invasive species in these stands. The stands include approximately three (3) acres at Dovetail Recreation Area and approximately forty (40) acres at Colony Open Space. Maps locating both stands are included in the bid information. A contractor will be able to bid on each forested stand. The City reserves the right to split this contract across more than one contractor. The City of Coralville reserves the right to reject any and all quotes. The quote will be good for no less than sixty (60) days. Questions can be directed to Alex Buhmeyer, Parks Superintendent at abuhmeyer@coralville.org or 319.248.1787 or abuhmeyer@coralville.org Submit intent to bid e-mail a minimum of 72 hours prior to bid opening date to Sherri Proud, Director of Parks and Recreation, at sproud@coralville.org.
