Located within the RPL facility are a group of hot cells designated the High-Level Radiochemistry Facility (HLRF) used to conduct work with highly radioactive materials. The HLRF also serves as the radioactive material receipt and distribution center for approximately 70% of the radioactive materials that are used for research in the facility's laboratories. The HLRF uses a Shielded Waste Cask Assembly (SWCA) to ship and store radioactive material within the confines of the Hanford Site. SWCAs are comprised of a certified steel drum that encases a primary container in lead and concrete shielding. SWCAs are procured on an as-needed basis. This PO will be an IDIQ for SWCA's. The applicable specifications for this equipment have been attached within the RFP Document.
