Multi-year project to design and construct the Advanced Medical Research Centre (AMRC) using the Design Build model. The centre will be constructed in the existing parking lot adjacent to the Roger Guindon building at 451 Smyth Road, Ottawa, ON. The new five-storey, 350,000 sq ft modern laboratory and research space which will support the University of Ottawa's local and global ambitions, drive innovation, and attract the world's brightest students, researchers, and experts. The facility will be designed to achieve LEED Gold certification which will lessen the University's economic and environmental footprint and benefit from the latest technology and sustainable design techniques. The facility will offer world-class research and training environments to the Faculty of Medicine. TIMELINE: PCL Constructors has been secured as the Design Build firm; full team is unreleased for publication. Ground Breaking to officially mark the start of construction took place May 2024. In May 2026, the minister of public services and procurement, announced that the University of Ottawa and McMaster University would share an investment from the Government of Canada of more than $115 million to jointly lead the new Canadian Pandemic Preparedness Hub, which will be part of the AMRC.
