Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Davenport, Iowa. Completed plans call civil work for a sidewalk / parking lot.

CY 2023 SIDEWALK PROGRAM The program is budgeted for $250,000 worth of work in the construction season year, April 3, 2023 - November 22, 2023. Bid Item Nos. 1& 2 - Sidewalk Construction, 4" & 6" - This item shall include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct 4-inch and 6-inch thick sidewalk in accordance with SUDAS Specification Section 7030 and these special provisions. This item shall include all normal work associated with constructing sidewalk. Sidewalks constructed in downtown or other areas may be required to exhibit a "picture frame" finish; such a finish shall be an incidental cost to this item. If sidewalks are constructed directly behind the curb as in downtown areas, and signs need to be reinstalled at certain areas, the contractor shall appropriately sleeve the area in accordance with the instructions of the City traffic engineer. Any sleeves necessary will be supplied by the City, and the contractor shall be responsible for installing them as an incidental cost to sidewalk construction. The contractor will not be allowed to core the area in lieu of using a sleeve. The adjustment to grade of utility shutoff boxes and electrical hand holes shall be considered an incidental cost to this item. Sidewalk shall also cover the construction of steps abutting the city sidewalk, up to a maximum of three (3) steps with a width of six (6) feet or less. Payment will be made based on the combined area, in square feet, of the horizontal and vertical surfaces of the steps but excluding the sides. Steps greater than three in number or wider than six feet shall be paid for as extra work. PCC mix shall conform to SUDAS Class C concrete with Class 2 durability or better aggregate. Bid Item No. 3 - Sidewalk Removal without Tree Roots This item shall include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to remove sidewalk or pedestrian curb ramps in accordance with SUDAS Specification Section 7030 and these special provisions. Thickness of existing sidewalk areas may vary, but are generally expected to be 4 inches. Removal of existing sidewalk within a driveway approach area and of approach thickness shall be paid for under Item No. 10. Saw cuts are required to prevent damage to adjacent sidewalk or to provide a smooth edge for the placement of expansion material and shall be considered an incidental cost to this item. Bid Item Nos. 4 & 5 - ADA Pedestrian Curb Ramp, Thickness Per Item - This item shall include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct ADA pedestrian curb ramps constructed 8 inches or 10 inches thick Bid Item No. 6 - Detectable Warning Surface - This item shall include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to furnish and install detectable warning surfaces in accordance with SUDAS Specification Section 7030. Detectable warning surfaces shall be Armor-Tile cast-in-place (safety red) or approved equal. Bid Item No. 7 - Construct Concrete Boulevard, 10" - PCC mix shall conform to SUDAS Class C concrete with Class 2 durability or better aggregate. Payment will be made at the contract unit bid price per square foot. Bid Item No. 8 - Remove Boulevard Pavement Material This item shall include all labor, materials and equipment necessary to remove and dispose of pavement materials that may exist in the boulevard area to be repaired. This item shall cover asphaltic material or PCC of any thickness encountered. Bricks encountered of non-paver quality may be disposed of. Paver-quality bricks shall be removed and salvaged, and this cost shall be covered by Item No. 16. Saw cutting may be required, as an incidental cost, in order to isolate and loosen the perimeter areas and especially to produce clean limit lines.
