Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Riverhead, New York. Design plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

As of June 5, 2025, a design firm has been selected for the project. Per the owner, although a firm timeline has not been established, construction is estimated to start later this year. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Town is seeking to construct an adaptive children's playground as part of the revitalization of its downtown. It is specifically seeking to provide a variety of play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to be open to the public, free of charge except during the most inclement weather. It is envisioned that the playground will become a destination for families and would have a large, central climbing structure with a maritime/river theme surrounded by equipment for children of all abilities with areas for caregivers to observe and facilitate access to the playground features. The following objectives should be addressed in the RFP submission: A proposed design that challenges and inspires children physically, supports and stimulates them cognitively and facilitates an emotional and social connection regardless of ability, and o Addresses all levels of mobility and capability, creating experiences for a variety of needs and interests, and o Creates opportunities for intergenerational and social connections, access to nature, sensory stimulation, and physical exercise, and o Supports children in five forms of play, including: solitary, onlooker, parallel, associative and cooperative The general location of the proposed playground is in what is currently a town owned parking lot directly south of 117 and 121 East Main Street see Exhibit A (existing conditions site map).
