Renovation of an educational facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
In general, the work consists of removal, disposal, and replacement of all wooden stairs, railings, balconies, and elevated walkways and structural support members as well as the replacement of some at-grade sidewalks and apartment entry stoops. There are seven buildings affected with both enclosed and open stairways that require replacement. The replacement stairs, guardrails, and handrails will be reconstructed to comply with the current building code requirements and the ADA. Decay resistant lumber and aluminum guardrail materials are selected to48 extend the life-expectancy of the buildings, to minimize ongoing maintenance, increase durability, and improve life-49 safety for the residents. Base Bid will be received for: A single lump sum bid for All Work. Bid Guarantee in the amount of 10% of the Bid must accompany each bid submitted. The 2017-2019 Wisconsin State Budget (2017 Wisconsin Act 59) repealed Wisconsin's prevailing wage laws. Effective September 23, 2017, state prevailing wage requirements on state building projects no longer apply. These changes take effect for projects advertised for bid after September 23, 2017. This change does not affect the Federal Davis Bacon Act requirements.
