Renovation of a swimming pool in Farmington, New Mexico. Design plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool.
As of September 20, 2023, a design team has been selected. The City of Farmington is seeking qualification-based proposals (RFQP) for professional design and construction administration services of a new therapy pool to replace the existing Lions Pool facility currently in use. Successful Firm shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience in commercial pool design and be able to provide professional services that should include site feasibility analyses, architectural programming, architectural, civil, structural, and MEP design to meet multiple functional and operational requirements. Funding for this work is provided by a State Capital Outlay Appropriation. Located at 405 N wall Ave. in Farmington, Lions pool was originally built in the mid 1950s and had served the local community as an outdoor recreation pool for many decades. In the 1980s, the facility was enclosed and served as a competitive swimming venue until 1994 when construction of the Farmington Aquatic Center was completed. Since that time, Lions Pool has served our senior community with therapeutically tempered waters for exercise and as an aid in adjunctive rehabilitation and pain treatment. Due to the facilitys age, it has become increasingly difficult and costly to maintain the specialized MEP systems, roofing, and architectural finishes year after year.
