Poultry litter to be furnished, delivered, and spread by the spreader truck on pastures for fertilizer at Hill Farm Research Station. o Broiler litter SHALL originate from recently cleaned broiler houses where a minimum of four flocks (batches) of broilers were grown. Litter can be either wood shavings or rice hull based. o Broiler litter shall be not more than 25% moisture, will be sampled by Research Station personnel, and adjustments to tonnage delivered will be made if moisture is above 25%. o Trucks shall be covered with tarps when hauling to prevent blowing of litter. o Research Station will designate a minimum of 10 truck loads to be weighed during delivery period and delivery tickets must be provided for each load to ensure specified tonnage delivered. o Spreading shall be at rates of 2,3,4,5, or 6 tons per acre. o Research Station personnel will assist successful supplier in calibration of spreader truck, will designate pastures/prepared seedbeds to receive litter, and will designate tons per acre for each location. o When spreading on pastures driver must remain at least 50 ft. away from creeks, ponds and drainage ditches. o No spreading will be allowed during heavy rains or when heavy rain is eminent. o Failure to adhere to the above requirements will result in suspension of application process. o Delivery is required only one time in June, but Hill Farm Research Station reserves the right to order as needed.
