Renovation of an educational facility in Charlottesville, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

**As of March 3, 2023, project was awarded to ColonialWebb Contractors Company but awarded amount is not available.**  The project is generally described as the replacement of existing Unit Ventilators, Convectors, and Wall Fin Radiation, including new Dedicated Outside Air Units, electrical and controls. New ceilings are required in some areas. If the County of Albemarle is closed for business at the time scheduled for bid opening, for whatever reason, sealed bids will be accepted and opened on the next scheduled business day, at the originally scheduled time. The estimated construction cost range for this project is $750,000 - $1,200,000. A Bid Bond is required for any bid which exceeds $100,000. The "Time for Completion" will be as detailed in the Bid Form. Sealed bids are invited for the Burley Middle School HVAC Renovations at 901 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22903. as determined by the Purchasing Agent. The bids will be opened publicly and read aloud immediately the receipt of bids. Procedures for submitting a bid, claiming an error, withdrawal of bids, and other pertinent information are contained in the Instructions to Bidders, which is part of the Invitation for Bids. Withdrawal due to error in bid shall be permitted in accord with Section 9 of the Instructions to Bidders and 2.2-4330A (i), Code of Virginia. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The contract shall be awarded on a lump sum basis to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder whose Bid provides the lowest total project cost to the Owner. Contractor registration in accordance with Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia, is required. See the Instructions to Bidders for additional qualification requirements. The County of Albemarle does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age or disability, or against faith-based organizations as defined under the Virginia Public Procurement Act on the basis of such organization's religious or charitable character. The bids shall be examined for conformance of all requirements of the solicitation including a signature, acknowledgement of addenda, and presence of a bid bond, when required. At the conclusion of the reading of the bids, Purchasing staff will complete the due diligence to examine bids for determination of complete responsiveness and vendor responsibility and additional information, including the bid tabulation, will be provided as it becomes available. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. Scope of the work: The Work of the Contractor includes demolition and disposal of existing material and equipment (except as indicated in A, B, C, and F below as by the owner); the replacement of portions of the HVAC Systems (except as indicated in D, E, and G below as by the owner); and the installation of new Dedicated Outside Air Systems; cutting and patching of existing finishes; removal and replacement of existing ceiling systems; flooring, drilling and cutting openings in the structure for the introduction of new Work; construction of new drywall chases and soffits; roof cutting, painting, and repairs; platforms and enclosures for new equipment; hoisting; testing and balancing of HVAC systems; Owner training; and all other Work, with the exception of Owner provided Work, in accordance with the requirements of the Drawings dated November 21, 2022 and Project Manual dated January 26, 2023 as prepared by Simmons, Rockecharlie & Prince Inc., Consulting Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. - The presence of Hazardous Material in the flooring below the Unit Ventilators (UV) and adhesives for acoustical tile above the current accessible tile systems is anticipated. The abatement of Hazardous Material shall be by the Contractor in compliance with all applicable County, City, State, and Federal laws, codes, rules, and regulations. The Contractor shall provide and pay for all required permits. The owner will provide monitoring of the work areas during the abatement process. Price shall be included on the Bid Form. See Bid Form for additional information. -The following Work as indicated in the Documents will be provided by the Owner either directly or through a separate contractor or vendor. The Contractor shall collaborate with the Owner and their separate contractors and/or vendors to coordinate and schedule the Owner provided Work. A. Demolition and disposal of existing wall mounted fan coil units and valves and the provision of new wall mounted fan coil units and valves including re-connecting the electrical and water lines. Existing electrical conduits may be reused as indicated. New wiring will be provided. B. Demolition and disposal of existing radiators and valves and the provision of new radiators and valves including re-connecting the water lines. C. Demolition and disposal of existing unit ventilators and valves and the provision of new unit ventilators and valves including re-connecting the electrical and water lines. Existing electrical conduits may be reused as indicated. New wiring will be provided. Existing exterior grilles will remain in place and wall openings infilled as indicated. D. Furnish new ceiling mounted fan coil unit FC-13 and valves to the Contractor for installation by the Contractor. Installation shall include valves, indicated changes to the electrical and water lines as well as re-connecting the units to the electrical and water lines. E. Furnish new unit ventilator UV-17 and valves and enclosures to the Contractor for installation by the Contractor. Installation shall include indicated changes to the electrical and water lines as well as re-connecting the units to the electrical and water lines. F. Demolition and disposal of existing wall mounted cabinet heaters and valves and the provision of new cabinet heaters and valves including re-connecting the electrical and water lines. Existing electrical conduits may be reused as indicated. New wiring will be provided. G. Furnish new DOAS#1, DOAS#2 and DOAS#3 units to the Contractor for installation. The Owner will arrange for delivery of the units to an address provided by the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for unloading the equipment and storing the units until they are needed at the jobsite. Transporting the equipment to the jobsite from the storage location and hoisting the equipment into the indicated location shall be by the Contractor. H. Demolition of portions of the existing BAS controls and storing them until they are needed at jobsite for re-installation by the Owner. I. Provision of the Siemens BAS control system. J. Provision of indicated smoke detectors and fire alarm work. Required electrical power for smoke detectors and related fire/smoke dampers shall be provided by the Contractor. Fire alarm and damper control wiring will be provided by the Owner. K. Filing Documents with the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County for review and permit. The cost for permits, if any, will be paid by the Owner
