As of November 2024, this project is under construction. . The bulk of construction on the project will not start until 2025. The team has been doing some work in the I-40 interchange area since October 2024. There may also be some clearing work in December 2024 between I-40 and White Oak Road. Construction will last until 2028. Shortlist Confirmed. The North Carolina Turnpike Authority, a unit of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), is requesting interested Design-Build Teams submit qualifications for a Design-Build Project. The project, R-2829A, extends the Triangle Expressway on new alignment in Wake County from I-40 to south of SR 2542 (Rock Quarry Road). Technical questions related to the RFQ package, or other project related questions, must be sent, by e-mail only, to designbuild@ncdot.gov.
