Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Aklavik, Northwest Territories. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

Dehk'e Frank Channel Bridge (ICIP) A 200 m long, 2 lane, multi-span bridge adjacent to the existing through truss bridge. The new bridge will be immediately adjacent to the existing bridge. Demolition of the existing bridge and site reclamation will be completed after the new bridge opens to traffic. TIMELINE: Planning study is underway. Pre-construction activities such as material crushing and surveying are expected to start later this year. Pending regulatory approvals, design is expected to be completed in 2025 with construction following. It will take approximately three years from award of the progressive design-build contract to obtain permits, carry out the design, complete construction and open the bridge to traffic. Further update may be available in late spring 2025, upon approvals.
