Renovation of a detention facility in Portsmouth, Virginia. Working plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

**As of May 23, 2023, no bids received for this project. The city is going a different way on trying to get this work completed. 1. The scope of the work includes furnishing and installing the piping and appurtenances necessary to modify the sprinkler system in conformance with the drawings and these specifications. 2. Give all notices, obtain all permits, arrange all inspections as required, and pay all fees. 3. The contractor shall visit the site prior to bid to determine the extent of the work. Lack of knowledge of existing conditions will not be considered a basis for change orders. prior to ordering equipment, certify, in writing, that equipment to be provided under this contract is acceptable and appropriate. expense incurred by the contractor, which in the engineer's opinion could have been avoided by this step, shall not be a basis for change orders. 4. Contractor shall submit complete digital copies of material and equipment shop drawings, bearing the contractor's stamp of approval, proposed for installation. 4. The contractor shall deliver the plumbing materials and equipment covered by the plans and specifications to the owner complete and in first class condition in every respect. They shall guarantee that the materials, equipment, and workmanship provided by them shall be entirely free from defects, and that they will repair or replace at their own expense as may be directed by the owner, any material, equipment, or workmanship in which defects may develop. provide a written warranty for a period of 18 months against defective workmanship and material after final acceptance at no additional cost to the owner. 5. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying in writing the facility owner and the Portsmouth Police Department of the nature of the work and their work schedule at least (5) days prior to beginning the work. The Contractor shall be responsible for coordination with the Hampton Roads Regional Jail for access to the jobsite. Notices shall be pre-approved by the Engineering Department, with a final copy provided prior to distribution. 6. Incidental items of work shall include but not limited to: mobilization, demobilization, special bidding, site restoration/clean-up, permitting, work place safety, notifications, and legal disposal of material. These items are to be included in the Lump Sum PriceThe City of Portsmouth is accepting bids from qualified contractors to modify the existing automatic sprinkler system. The scope of the work included hereon shall include modifying the existing automatic sprinkler system for the renovated space. This contractor shall make necessary modifications as shown on the reflected ceiling plan. The work included under this section of the specifications shall comprise all labor, material, equipment, costs and service incidental to the modification of the sprinkler system complete and ready for operation. Requirements listed in the specifications are in addition to applicable codes. Successful application for a permit, or local authority approval of plans does not alleviate contractor's responsibility to comply with the requirements set forth in the contract documents.
