Saving Project...

Renovation of a museum in Williamsburg, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.

Commodity Code: 54008, 54009, 54010, 54020, 54070, 91052, 91220 This contract is for repairs at Jamestown Settlement. At Jamestown Settlement there are three (3) period structures in James Fort needing repair. These buildings are the Four Bay House, 2 Bay House and Governor's House. The Riverfront Shed is outside of the fort and also needs some repairs. Four Bay House: The Four Bay House is in need of roof replacement over the bedroom area. Many clapboards on the roof have surpassed life expectancy and are beginning to rot causing leaks. Tarring and patching are no longer sufficient. Roof needs replacing so rafters, plates, braces, etc. do not begin to suffer water damage. Contractor will replace all clapboards over bedroom area of 4 Bay House. Clapboards can be riven or sawn. Clapboards should be dry and resistant to splitting. Also, there may be a few bad rafters or toes uncovered that will then need replacing. There are approximately 240 clapboards needing replacing. Contractor will install clapboards, nail (with nail gun) them, and tar clapboards. Clapboard overlaps/scarfs and nails should be caulked. Contractor will then tar entire roof over new section that is being replaced. Contractor will also tar clapboards over the 4 Bay office. Tar and caulk will be supplied by Agency. Riverfront Boat Shed Two braces need replacing. They are rotting and about to fall out of their mortise. Both are 6"x6" pines approximately 6' long Governor's and Two Bay Houses The Governor's and Two Bay Houses have barge boards that need replacing. There are 3 barge boards needing replacing. Barge boards can be pine or cypress. The widths are all 1"x12". The one barge board on the Two Bay House is approximately 8' long. The two barge boards on the Governor's house are approximately 14' long. Direct all inquiries to Saiju Antony, Procurement Officer at procurement@jyf.virginia.gov submit in writing by, February 17, 2023, at 2:00PM.
