The Town of Manteo islocated in Dare County in Northeastern North Carolina. This beautiful coastal community islocated on Roanoke Island and is the county seat of the stunning Outer Banks of North Carolina and has seen an increase in new residents and visitors. It is one of the oldest towns in North Carolina full of interesting history, rich culture, and a loving community of vibrant people. The Town of Manteo became a NC Main Street on July 1, 2022 consisting of a Manteo Main Street Advisory Board and a staff liaison. The NC Main Street program is a Main Street America(TM) Coordinating Program, which is a program of the nonprofit National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Main Street program inspires placemaking through building asset-based economic developmentstrategies organized into an Economic Development Implementation Plan (EDIP), which is included as part of this RFQ as an addendum. The creation of an appealing wayfinding program assists with placemaking. The program's Four-Point approach utilizes the concepts of Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion and Organization to help foster sustainable economic growth. This approach allows the community to find ways to highlight the rich history of the Town while promoting what it has to offer and what truly makes it special. Wayfinding is one of the top five priorities identified by the Manteo Main Street Advisory Board in the town's EDIP. In Manteo, return to a simpler time of fishing rods, smiling faces, picket fences, and charming places. There is so much to explore along our waterfront boardwalk. Take a leisurely stroll and watch the boats in the marina sail around Shallowbag Bay,read a book on a park bench in our newly renovated Davis Park, or explore the wonderful variety ofshopsthat Manteo boasts to find unique and undiscovered treasures. Experience Manteo's history first-hand by boarding the Elizabeth II at Roanoke Island Festival Park or learn about Manteo's boat-building history at the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum. Get a direct look into the life of a lighthouse keeper at the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse or learn about the heroic history of the Pea Island Lifesaving Station at our very own Pea Island Lifesaving Cookhouse Museum. Manteo's history is celebrated through our culture and arts. The historic Manteo Courthouse is home to our Dare County Arts Council, which hosts many culturally inspired activities and events. On the north end of the island, you can enjoy a stroll through the Elizabethan Gardens smelling beautiful flowers or catch a show at the nation's longest-running outdoor drama, The Lost Colony. The Town of Manteo seeks professional consulting services to develop a master wayfinding signage plan complete with analysis, system design, documentation, specifications, construction, and implementation for various forms of signage. This plan should address signage at both the vehicular and pedestrian level throughout town in a cohesive manner and unique design. Goals of this project are establishing a design standard reflective of the town and improving the overall wayfinding experience in the town through signage guiding travelers from the major entrances into the town to areas of interest. Requirements: All respondents wishing to be considered must submit the following materials: 1) Statement of Interest: One page outline demonstrating experience and ability to design, produce, and install such work on schedule and with a proposed budget. 2) Digital images of 5 prior municipal wayfinding plans, including municipality name, pictures of signage, project planning concept and schedule, map of location of signage, project cost, any digital/web-based components of the plan, and an inventory of wayfinding signs designed and installed. 3) Three relevant professional references complete with name, title, phone number and email address. Please provide references who can speak to your ability to create wayfinding signage plans. 4) Any potential travel needs. 5) Qualified to conduct business in the State of North Carolina. Selection Criteria and Process: The selection of a consultant, or consulting team, shall be based on whose body of work best meets the requirements. Items to be reviewed and considered are: o Previous experience merit and expertise. o Proven successful wayfinding signage projects of similar scope. o Ability to successfully execute the project. o Knowledge and experience hosting public engagement in order to gain community input. o Ability to identify needed sign locations. o Expressed interest in creating artwork within the community setting. o Ability to interface with a community's branding package. o Experience with design of durable products in a coastal environment. o Interviews with potential finalist(s) may be conducted prior to the final decision.
