The entire Scope of work described herein is outside the secured-perimeter Sussex State Prison, Waverly VA. Remove and replace existing asphalt paving per industry standards of the trade. The areas highlighted differ in its existing condition; a discussion on determination of resurface, milling and replace or complete replacement will be covered during the mandatory pre-bid conference. Millings to be removed and disposed, off-site Maintain existing drainage grade Remove and compact subsurface area where pavement shows areas of deformity. The Contractor shall compact the sub-grade of all areas to 95% of optimum moisture to receive stabilized base course. When conditions allow, the area shall be proof rolled prior to placement of asphalt. Proof rolling: The subgrade shall be proof rolled with a loaded tandem dump truck. The Geotechnical Inspector will monitor the proof rolling and determine areas of unsuitable bearing material, with inspection report/results given to Engineer and Owner. Any unacceptable movement observed during the proof roll shall be a basis for failing the subgrade and repair. Repair deformed areas with a new subsurface aggregate using crushed stone or base course asphalt to restore structural integrity of pavement section as determined applicable. Prior to placement of successive pavement layers, the previous course should be cleaned and, if needed, a tack coat of diluted emulsified asphalt applied. Seal all joints and edges with hot liquid asphalt. Place asphalt concrete courses as required. Paint striping all areas receiving replacement asphalt per existing conditions of main entrance road, parking lots, ADA spaces, NO parking areas, fire lanes etc. The Contractor will move all equipment immediately following completion of each days work.
