The purpose of this project is to convert/retrofit the existing drip irrigation system on site to a rotor and spray head system. In order to achieve this, the existing drip lines connected to the manifolds must be located, severed and capped. The drip lines can remain in the ground once they are capped. Some larger zones will require new larger zone valves to support proper water flow. The new lines, accommodating the rotors and spray heads, will be connected to the zone valve supplying water to the location. The new lines must support the number of sprinklers needed for proper coverage. The new lateral lines must be connected to the manifold in a way that will insure proper coverage of the zone. Installation of the lines will be done in a way that has minimal impact on the landscape sod and plant material. Because a drip irrigation system uses water differently than rotors and spray heads, additional zone valves might be needed in some areas to insure proper coverage. Water conserving heads must be used in this project. The irrigation system is tied to a cistern that collects rain water from the roofs of the buildings. The water is then pumped out of the cistern by means of the submerged pump located in the cistern. When the cistern runs low of water, the irrigation system will activate the city water master valve to maintain the water flow. The system also has a controller and a Rainbird clock. The bid price must include all material and labor charge to render a functional sprinkler system.
