This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.
For MSQ Silviculture Surveys in the Fort St. John TSA There are an estimated 1,338 plots in approx. 1338.8 ha, located in various locations throughout the Fort St. John Timber Supply Area. The plots will be established at an intensity of one plot per hectare for all survey types. Access will be via truck, ATV. There does not appear to be a requirement for helicopter access into any blocks in this contract. The contractor should expect challenging ATV access conditions into blocks via deactivated access and block roads. Some areas may be remote and require long drives. All the MSQ surveys for conifer, deciduous and mixed wood strata have been combined into one contract for the Peace-Liard Business Area. With that said it is important that prospective bidding contractors understand that the MSQ surveys have distinctive differences in survey procedure. As a result, for each survey type, a separate Schedule A has been developed for the services required and a separate Schedule B for payment. It should be noted that conifer well growing, and deciduous well growing surveys will utilize the conifer and deciduous compilers for this contract. Manual data entry into compiler spreadsheet is required. Unlike Regular silviculture surveys conducted throughout the Province of British Columbia, MSQ surveys require the contractor to collect and compile survey information in a way that results in data that does not conform to current readily available software programs such as Plant Wizard, SNAP! etc. It is the contractor's responsibility to thoroughly read the procedures and requirements for compilation and submission of deliverables as outlined in the Schedules A's. All Surveys must be signed and sealed by a Qualified Forest Professional to confirm that the work has been completed in accordance with the methods set out in the Silviculture Surveys Procedures Manual 2022 or updated version thereof the guidance provided in Schedule A1, A2 and A3. The standard FS658 silviculture survey plot card will require some manipulation to collect MSQ survey data. However it is left open to bidders to consider innovative ideas regarding the use of available technological means to enable field data collection through digital means for subsequent manipulation and upload. All contract related questions must be submitted in writing ONLY to the following email address: Forests.PeaceLiardTimberSalesOffice@gov.bc.ca. Deadline for receiving questions is 4:30 pm on March 10, 2023. If questions are received, a Question & Answer document will be posted to BC Bid by March 14, 2023. Estimated Contract Duration (in months): 11
