Development of the Town's lands at Blockhouse Hill. Blockhouse Hill consists of roughly 22.53 acres northeast adjacent to Old Town Lunenburg, sloping towards Lunenburg's Back Harbour. The site is located from Creighton to Sawpit Hopson Loop to Sawpit Green Corridors. The scope of work includes the construction of a residential development including various structures. TIMELINE: The Town of Lunenburg officially halted the controversial residential development project on Blockhouse Hill. Facing heavy public pushback over heritage impacts to the UNESCO buffer zone and severe municipal electrical grid capacity limits, the town council reversed its prior decision to declare the 9-hectare public land surplus and proceed with the project development. No construction will follow this report. Coverage of this report has been discontinued.
