In order to improve support for the learning environment in Birmingham City Schools (hereinafter referred to as "District" or "BCS") on our campuses located in Birmingham, Alabama, BCS is seeking proposals to replace existing network switches to improve the wired and wireless infrastructure. The network serves the needs of approximately 20,000 students and 2,500 staff. The intent of the District is to purchase network switches for all E-rate eligible sites utilizing E-rate funding. This RFP will also serve as the basis of purchasing network switches for non-instructional facilities (NIF). Other funding sources will be used to pay for installation of all switches as well as network switches for the NIFs. The successful vendor will provide support as necessary to install all purchased network switches. This includes configuration and testing of the network switches. This project will be funded through E-Rate Category 2 and ESSER. The contract cannot be extended after June 30, 2028. Renewals shall be based on the E-Rate fiscal year and shall depend upon funding, contractor performance, and agreement by both parties. Contract award and optional renewals shall be initiated by issuance of a signed contract amendment.
