Renovation of an educational facility in Wilmington, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Bid Security, Performance Bond and Material Payment Bond are not required for this contract. This project will be bid and awarded in accordance with G.S. 143-131, Informal Bidding Procedures. The project consists of: Remove/dispose/replace six (6) split system air conditioners (1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8). Reuse pitch pockets for refrigerant piping and power. Reuse refrigerant piping as possible to new equipment and refrigerant. Remove/dispose/replace refrigerant piping insulation. Provide aluminum jacket on exterior piping insulation. Remove/dispose/replace condensate piping. New hot water coils will be separate from the air handler and placed in the reheat position. This will be designed into seven (7) air handling systems (1- 3, 5 - 8). AHU-4 currently has a hot water coil in the reheat position. DDC Programming for dehumidification will be incorporated. Reuse existing concrete housekeeping pads for air handlers (enlarge as necessary). Reuse existing roof structure for condensing units, modify as necessary. Upgrade controls/sequences to current NHCS DDC system guidelines. Test and balance air handling units to scheduled airflows, proportionally balance diffusers, registers and grilles. Test and balance water flows for hot water coils. Licensed Mechanical Contractors must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience on competitively bid publicly funded construction projects e.g., City, County, State or School Systems The successful bidder will be required to furnish 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Material Payment Bond. New Hanover County Schools has a verifiable ten percent (10%) goal for participation by minority businesses in the total value of the work. Bidders are required on school construction and renovation projects to make a "good faith effort" to meet this goal. Bidders shall identify on their bid the minority businesses that it will use on the project. Bidders shall submit along with the bid an affidavit listing the "good faith efforts" it has made pursuant to Section I - Information for Bidders, Article I-8, Minority Participation, and the total dollar value of the bid that will be performed by the minority businesses. A bidder that performs all of the work under the contract with its own workforce may submit an affidavit to that effect in lieu of the aforementioned affidavit otherwise required under this subsection. New Hanover County Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding, and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the School System.
