As of June 2024, the project is in preliminary design. Contractor bidding and construction is expected to commence in 2025. The Weirton Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners are seeking proposals from architectural/engineering firms to provide professional services for the planning of capital improvements for Marland Heights Park, located at the corner of Riverview and Williams Drive, Weirton, WV. Proposers should be prepared to offer complete architectural and engineering services from site preparation to the completion of various improvement projects for the approximately four (4) acre property. Firms should be prepared to start work immediately upon notification that proposal has been accepted by the Park Board. Proposals must include rates for professional services: hourly, weekly, sum total and must identify any sub-contractors that would be employed to complete work. Proposing firms must anticipate meetings with the Park Board, its staff, possibly City of Weirton Common Council and public hearings. Questions on the proposals should be directed to Park Board Executive Director Coty Shingle at (304) 797-8522. All applicable licenses and permits must be supplied by the firm submitting a proposal. Only original proposals will be accepted, no faxes, emails, or other digital delivery. Proposals must include the signed and completed proposal form, notarized non-collusion affidavit, and the Worker's Compensation affidavit, if applicable. Proposal packets can be obtained by contacting the Park Board executive director. The contract to furnish the above services as herein advertised will be awarded by the Weirton Park Board to the firm or persons submitting the proposal deemed to be in the best interest of the Park Board. The Park Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to waive any informalities or irregularities in the proposals received and to accept any proposal which it deems most favorable.
