The New York Power Authority is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to obtain pricing from qualified firms for the removal, indexing and staging of historic aqueduct stone for future re-assembly in an alternate location. Construction Horizontal: Highways & Roadways; Maintenance, Repair & New Construction - Construction CR Number: 2095378 Deliverable: A high-level estimate for the removal, indexing and staging of the historic aqueduct stone for future re-assembly in an alternate location. Narrative: A quote is requested to remove, index and stage on site for future reassembly, the structure shown in the accompanying historic as built drawings described below: A ca. 1845 rough faced ashlar stone aqueduct structure with fine mortar joints and rubble fill that consists of: a three-span arch structure supporting the tow path arched wing walls upstream, and downstream training walls which supported the ends of the wood aqueduct structure (one of which was converted to a spillway during Barge Canal construction ca. 1910) and terminate in arched wingwalls (similar to upstream), two extensions of the center arch piers, which served as cradles for the wooden aqueduct that crossed the stream (no longer extant), terminating in stone support towers at the downstream ends of the extensions. The northwest training and wing walls were repurposed as a spill way during the construction of the barge canal. The concrete ogee spill way and training walls will need to be demolished. The concrete rubble may be left on site to serve as fill. Each limestone arch span has a clear opening of approximately 24 feet.
