Site work and paving for a road / highway in Morristown, Tennessee. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
**As of April 20, 2023, project was awarded to Brown Brothers Paving but awarded amount is not available.** The work involves the partial repair of the roadways of the Hamblen County Road System and will be confined in the roadway from one edge of pavement to the other. The work will fall into one of two types of repair, Type "A" repair or Type "B" repair. The Hamblen County Road Superintendent will mark the roadway with white paint to designate those areas needing repair. A Type "A" repair will involve the excavation of approximately one (1) foot of materials including old asphalt, old base stone, and weak existing soil followed by the placement and compaction of eight (8) inches of base stone and four (4) inches of new asphalt (c-mix gradation). A sketch of a Type "A" repair is shown below. A Type "B" repair will involve the removal of a broken or extremely worn area of asphalt that will be from 1 (one) to 4 (four) inches in depth, whereby, new asphalt will be placed and compacted back in that same area. The work will be paid for by the square yard unit of measure. The Hamblen County Road Superintendent, in cooperation with the contractor, will determine those areas beyond the normal Type "A" repair and deploy the personnel of the Hamblen County Highway Department to complete those repairs.
