Provide design engineering and local match funds for this federally funded Ramsey County project to upgrade the traffic signal system along Dale Street from Grand Avenue to Como Avenue. Project includes traffic signal reconstruction, traffic signal controller replacement, fiber-optic interconnect installation, and installation of traffic cameras along Dale Street. Funded through the Met Council Regional Solicitation. Project is in City of Saint Paul capital budget Fiscal year 2024-2028. As of September 24, 2025, per owner, design team has been identified. The original construction year was going to be this year, but as they were getting ready to get the project authorized in January, small areas were identified where temporary right-of-way should have been acquired but wasn’t. This process typically is one of the earliest in project management, but unfortunately these locations weren’t identified in time to construct the project this year, as was the plan originally. Design is now complete, and right-of-way acquisition is near complete; construction will be Spring of 2026. Project is partially federally funded through programs HSIP (Highway Safety Improvement Program) and CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality). *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
