Renovation of a library in Portland, Oregon. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
Located in East Portland, the new Library Operations Center will feature automated materials handling, which will provide library materials to patrons in an efficient way, reducing overall materials handling costs and expediting delivery of patron holds. Although not a public location, the space will also serve as a warehouse for materials and a workspace for library staff. The Library Operations Center project includes an interior renovation, seismic upgrade, and exterior improvements of an existing building at a newly acquired site. Operational expenditure impacts include facilities costs, utilities, janitorial services, library capital fees, and the costs to maintain automated materials handling. Fiscal Year: 2022-2023 *As of August 30, 2023, project is under construction. All subs have been let and lined up. Construction started around 3-4 months ago.
