Site work for a water / sewer project in Athens, West Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Town of Athens, Mercer County, West Virginia is in the process of obtaining qualifications from consulting engineering firms to complete the construction of the Athens Water System Improvements and Extensions project(s). The selected firm will work closely with all team members, including the Town of Athens and Region I Planning & Development Council. Professional services for the activity funded include: (1) Preliminary environmental and design; (2) Final design; (3) Construction in accordance with all State, Federal, and Local regulations that pertain to the proposed project; (4) Preparation of bidding and contracting documents; (5) Participation in the evaluation of bids received; (6) Monitor and inspect construction activities on a periodic basis to ensure compliance with plans and specifications; (7) Preparation and delivery of final "As Built" drawings and data in GIS format (shapefile, geodatabase, etc.) with data georeferenced to and assigned real-world coordinates and accompanied by comprehensive descriptive metadata. Procurement of said services shall be in accordance with West Virginia Code Chapter 5G and 2 CFR Part 200. Consultants interested in being considered for this project must submit detailed qualifications including technical expertise, management and staffing capabilities, and examples of related prior experience with the objectives outlined above. Attention is directed to the fact that the proposed project may be undertaken through funding sources including, but not limited to the HUD/Community Development Block Grant, Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the Economic Development Administration (EDA), the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WV DEP), USDA-RD, the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council, and the State Revolving Loan Fund. The Town of Athens will afford full opportunity for minority business enterprises to submit a show of interest in response to this invitation and will not discriminate against any interested firm or individual on the grounds of race, creed, color, sex, age, handicap or national origin in the contract award. The Town of Athens reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all submissions. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
