Demolition and site work for a retail development in Wilmington, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 23,929-square-foot, one-story above grade retail development; and for site work for a retail development.
DO NOT REMOVE ANY ASHPALT, CONCRETE PAVING, CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS OR OTHER IMPERPEVIOUS SURFACE MATERIALS. DO NOT REMOVE FENCING ALONG THE PERIMITER OF THE PROPERTY. THE SITE MUST BE SECURE BOTH DURING AND AFTER DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES. ONCE THE BUILDINGS ARE REMOVED, CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING LIKE-KIND FENCING ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE PROPERTY AS NEEDED TO SECURE THE SITE IN A MANNER WHICH PREVENTS UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS. DO NOT REMOVE OR DESTROY ANY MATURE TREES. PLACE A BARRIER OR SCREEN FOR PROTECTION FROM THE DEMOLITION. Remove all materials not explicitly listed above within the property. Remove any and all demolition rubbish. Remove all overgrowth and cuttings, bushes and brush, trash and debris and any other items. Grade, level and rake out stones/rocks larger than 2" and root matter before applying seed and straw application to parcel in disturbed, non-impervious surface areas. Obtain all necessary permits Federal, State, County and City. Work cannot begin until all permits have been issued by issuing agencies and permits have been reviewed and derivative by City staff for permanent file documentation Due to the relatively recent date of construction of the buildings, asbestos sampling was performed, and asbestos removal is not anticipated under this scope. (See Exhibit E - Phase I Environmental Assessment and Exhibit F - Asbestos Survey Results). SPECIFICATIONS: Three (3) structures located on the site totaling 23,929 square feet of gross building area. All three structures are constructed of masonry block and brick, with steel beams support the roofs on concrete slab foundations. 1) 4,720 square foot retail center constructed in 1981 2) 9,770 square foot warehouse constructed in 1981, which includes a loading dock and paved parking area 3) 9,439 square feet residential (shelter) building which includes offices, a commercial kitchen, restrooms, and other features constructed in 1987 Demolish the three (3) vacant buildings excluding the foundations, ancillary parking areas and other impervious surface, removing all demolition rubbish. Fence along the perimeter of the property to remain. During and after building demolition, site perimeter must be secured by contractor. After demolition of buildings takes place, new like-kind fencing should be installed along the perimeter of the property to restrict access. Any vegetative matter growing on existing fencing should be removed. Trees and bushes to remain undisturbed to the greatest extent practicable. Grade, level and rake out stones/rocks larger and 2", root matter before applying seed and straw application to parcel in disturbed, non-impervious areas. See attached documentation: o Exhibit A - Subject Location Map & Pictures o Exhibit B - Data Sheet o Exhibit C - Sample Professional Services Agreement o Exhibit D - ROW permit application o Exhibit E - Phase I Environmental Report o Exhibit F - Asbestos Survey Results This Request for Proposal (RFP) will provide your firm with sufficient information to enable you to prepare and submit a proposal for the Demolition of the former Salvation Army site located at 820 North Second Street, Wilmington, North Carolina.
