Renovation of an educational facility in Alexandria, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

It is the intent of this Contract is to secure services to remove the existing natural gas generator and transfer switch from the project site and install a new natural gas generator and transfer switch. Work shall include all associated demolition rigging, piping, equipment, electrical equipment, controls, insulation, patching, painting and related work as detailed in these specifications to provide a complete and fully operational installation. As the current generator is inoperable, the Contractor shall furnish and install a backup temporary generator with cabling, control wires to the school emergency electrical system while the generator project is in transition. The temporary generator and cabling will be removed upon project completion. All temporary building penetrations shall be repaired by the Contractor. The area around the portable and existing generator shall be enclosed in a temporary fence. Any question or request for an interpretation must be in writing and submitted to the Owner by U.S. Mail, commercially recognized overnight delivery service, or hand delivery during business hours addressed as follows: Angela C. Mylechraine, CPPB, VCO, Contract Administrator Fairfax County Public Schools Department of Facilities and Transportation Services Office of Facilities Management 5025 Sideburn Road, Room 16 Fairfax, Virginia 22032 Telephone Number: (703) 764-2457 Email: acmylechrain@fcps.edu In order to be eligible for consideration, a question or request for interpretation must be received on or before the date that is three (3) days before the date established for the submission of bids SCOPE OF WORK: It is the intent of this Contract to secure services to remove the existing 15KW open natural gas generator. The new 20KW open generator will utilize the existing concrete pad, with modifications if necessary as well as the natural gas fuel supply and conduits for the feeders and control wires and as described in these specifications. A. The Contractor shall replace the existing Automatic Transfer Switch in the electrical room with a new 40-amp ATS in same location mounted on strut. New 40-amp fuses to be installed in emergency disconnect supplying ATS. B. The Contractor shall reuse existing conduits and #6 conductors to supply to new ATS. Replace #8 conductors from the ATS with #6 THWN stranded wire to the new generator. C. The Contractor shall reuse the existing natural gas line with modifications to supply new generator, replacing the cut off valve, gas solenoid valve and gas regulator valve. D. The Contractor shall re-attach to the 24"x18" radiator discharge plenum, connecting the new generator's radiator through to the wall exit. E. The existing exhaust shall be reused with necessary modifications for proper discharge. F. The original generator pad shall be reused with modifications to accommodate new generator if needed. G. As the current generator is or becomes inoperable, the Contractor shall furnish and install a backup temporary generator with cabling, control wires to the school emergency electrical system while the generator project is in transition. The temporary generator and cabling will be removed upon project completion. All temporary building penetrations shall be repaired by the Contractor. The area around the portable and existing generator shall be enclosed in a temporary fence.
