Overburden removal and finish contouring in excess of bid item 6 at Dried Meat Lake Pit #1 located in lands legally described as NW24-45-20-W4M will be incidental to the Services. There will be no compensation expected of the County. 2. For the purpose of this contract, Overburden removal shall include all excavation and placement of common material (including topsoil stripping and stockpiling, subsoil stripping and stockpiling, overburden stripping and stockpiling, haul road earthworks, and waste material movement). There is an estimated 7,000m3 subsoil pile to be moved approximately 500m northwest as identified in drawing GC-01-2023 (Bid Item 6). Below the subsoil pile and over the gravel extraction area #2 there is approximately 1100m3 of topsoil and 1600m3 of subsoil to be stockpiled east of the excavation as identified in drawing GC-01-2023 and is incidental to the crushing. There is also an unknown quantity of overburden below the subsoil that increases in depth as it goes to the east to be stockpiled. The site test holes as shown in Schedule "F" will be open for inspection during the pre-tender meeting and is meant to show the extent of these quantities as identified on Drawing Number GC-02-2023. All Overburden removal will be incidental to the Services. All soil stockpile sites (as required) have been identified on Drawing Number GC-01-2023. All soils stockpiles should be appropriately contoured to promote positive drainage away from the piles and allow for an accurate survey. The Contractor shall take care in maintaining the separation of "Topsoil" and "Subsoil" as determined by the Manager of Public Works or his designate. Admixing will not be permitted and the occurrence of such will be subject to penalty as deemed appropriate by the Manager of Public Works or his designate. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to ensure acceptance of the Overburden removal quantities required. All Overburden removal shall be as per the current Code of Practice for Pits. 3. Mobilization and demobilization shall be lump sum and if additional equipment is required to complete the contract to specification it shall be at the expense of the contractor. There will be no compensation expected of the County. 4. The Contractor shall: 4.1. Mine, crush, screen, measure and stockpile 30,000 cubic meters of 4:20 modified specification gravel at Dried Meat Lake Pit #1 at NW24-45-20-W4M (Measured in place) for the unit price as indicated on bid item 2. 4.2. Mine, crush, screen, measure and stockpile 30,000 cubic meters of 4:25 modified specification gravel at Dried Meat Lake Pit #1 at NW24-45-20-W4M (Measured in place) for the unit price as indicated on bid item 3. 4.3. Mine, crush, screen, measure and stockpile 3,000 cubic meters of 6:80 AT specification gravel at Dried Meat Lake Pit #1 at NW24-45-20-W4M (Measured in place) for the unit price as indicated on bid item 6 (Deletable). 4.6. Move 7,000 cubic meters of existing subsoil piles from excavation area #2 to subsoil pile location #1 as indicated on Drawing GC-01-2023 as indicated on bid item 7. 5. The Contractor shall: 5.1. Slope all embankments caused by excavations created while crushing gravel in the aforementioned gravel pits and prior to moving any equipment away from the pit. The said embankments shall be sloped at no less than 3:1 with overburden or excess screenings or as otherwise specified by the Manager of Public Works or his designate. 5.2. Remove all equipment within 30 days of completion of all earthworks and crushing from the county pit unless otherwise approved by the manager of public works or his designate. 6. The order of extraction of in-situ Pitrun will start with raw material excavation in area #1 followed by raw material excavation in area #2. The material in area #1 is better suited for the 2:20 material and shall be used primarily for the 2:20 aggregate produced. The order of extraction for the raw material excavation area #2 will be from west to the east limit and then progressing north after the material to the east is exhausted. This is referenced in the Gravel Extraction area #2 as illustrated in Drawing Number GC-02-2023. In-situ material will be transported by the Contractor to the crusher by whatever means deemed appropriate by the Contractor and as approved by the Manager of Public Works. 7. In all locations of gravel extraction, the intent is that the gravel resource shall be removed to a depth in which there is no remaining gravel resource underlying the final excavation elevation. In the event there are resources below the water table, it is understood the water table shall be the limit of excavation. It is required that a track hoe be utilized to properly exhaust gravel resources to the final pit elevation. County personnel will confirm acceptance that all gravel has been satisfactorily mined. Pockets of interburden removal shall be considered incidental to the Services. 8. It is the contractor's responsibility to verify the quantities to his own satisfaction. 9. It shall be mandatory that stacking conveyors be utilized for the final stockpiling of all crushed gravel. The stacking conveyor shall automatically and continuously move from one side of the pile to the other during crushing operations. In the event that a stacking conveyor is not being used in this manner the manager of public works or his designate may shut down the gravel crushing operation until such time as the stacking conveyor is fully functional. 10. Aggregate shall be crushed and screened to the Following Specifications: 9.1 4:20 Modified Specification Sieve Size - um Percent Passing 20,000 100 10,000 35 - 77 5,000 15 - 55 1,250 0 - 28 80 0 - 10 Fractures - % 70+ 9.2 4:25 Modified Specification Sieve Size - um Percent Passing 25,000 100 10,000 30 - 65 5,000 15- 45 1,250 0 - 27 80 0 - 10 Fractures - % 60+ 9.3 4:30 Modified Specification Sieve Size - um Percent Passing 31,500 100 20,000 50 - 90 10,000 30 - 70 5,000 10- 45 1,250 0 - 26 80 0 - 10 Fractures - % 60+ 9.4 2:20 Specification (Granular Base Course) Sieve Size - um Percent Passing 20,000 100 16,000 84 - 94 10,000 63 - 86 5,000 40 - 67 1,250 20 - 43 630 14 - 34 315 9 - 26 160 5 - 18 80 2 - 10 Fractures - % 60+ 9.5 6:80 Modified Specification Sieve Size - um Percent Passing 80,000 100 50,000 55 - 100 25,000 38 - 85 16,000 32 - 70 5,000 20 - 55 315 6 - 30 80 2 - 10 Fractures - % N/A
