The County of Sonoma is pleased to invite you to respond to a RFP Event Climate Adaptation Center Plan. The County of Sonoma seeks proposals from qualified consultants or consultant teams to develop a plan for a Climate Adaptation Center that could potentially be located on the former Sonoma Developmental Center campus. The County of Sonoma has recently adopted the Sonoma Developmental Center Specific Plan for the redevelopment of the former Sonoma Development Center campus. The Legislature has mandated that planning and disposition of the property provide permanent protection of the open space and natural resources, prioritize housing development, and address economic sustainability. The State Department of General Services is in the process of reviewing proposals by private developers to purchase and redevelop the property in accordance with the Specific Plan. The County of Sonoma desires to explore the feasibility of the site being dedicated to producing and demonstrating the practical solutions necessary for climate change adaptation. These solutions could involve all aspects of the campus development (e.g. water, power, transportation, facilities) and exemplify innovative and state-of-the art adaptation technology. Thus, the campus would be a "living laboratory" where people live, work, and create in surroundings completely dedicated to climate adaptation. Proposers will be required to submit all questions in writing per the schedule for staff to prepare written responses to all consultants. Written answers will be shared with all potential bidders through an addendum on the County's Supplier Portal and email notification. The living wage rate required under the County's Living Wage Ordinance (LWO) has increased. Effective January 1, 2023, the living wage rate required under the LWO shall be $17.25 per hour, an increase over the previous $16.75 per hour. The adjustment was adopted by the County's Board of Supervisors on December 06, 2022, in accordance with Sonoma Municipal Code section 2-377(d).
