Renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Design plans call for the addition of a 4,800-square-foot, 46-seat educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and three-room day care center.
Addition and renovations at Elizabeth Simcoe Elementary School. Scope includes interior alterations to existing school to increase the capacity by 46 students + to expand the school from a JK-6 school to a JK-8 school which will require 6 additional classrooms to accommodate the students. Scope also includes a 4,800 sq ft addition for a double gymnasium, would then be constructed at the rear of the school. One of the existing general-purpose rooms would be repurposed as childcare space, the other into a specialty/withdrawal space such as an instrumental music. An open concept space on the second floor of the school (above the library) is proposed to be converted into 4 classrooms. The existing gymnasium situated at the east end of the existing school is proposed to be converted into a 3-room childcare centre and associated program spaces. TIMELINE: Designs are ongoing. Tender and construction timing will be finalized based on funding approvals. Further update fall 2025. *Construction cost has yet to be finalized.
