Commodity Code(s): 97534 The Contractor shall provide all paving and milling equipment, qualified laborers, supervision, fuel, tools, supplies, materials and all incidentals necessary to mill and pave approximately 87,000 square feet of parking lot, located at the Salem District Complex, 731 Harrison Avenue, Salem, VA 24153. The Contractor shall pave half of the parking lot completely, as designated by the Contract Administrator. Once the first half is complete, VDOT will move vehicles and the Contractor will pave the second half, as designated by the Contract Administrator. Refer to Attachment G for location of the paving project Provide paving services for the Salem District Lot as described herein. Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Ms. Shonda Fowler at shonda.fowler@vdot.virginia.gov. issuing office will determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions 5:00PM, April 10, 2023 Work shall include: 1. Mill the asphalt surface on existing parking lot to a depth of approximately 2 inches and remove and properly dispose of excess material. Mill 2-inches and replace with 2-inches Asphalt Concrete Type SM-9.5AL. 2. Complete any grading required for positive drainage away from the buildings. 3. Clean and prepare surfaces to be overlaid and apply tack coat. 4. Overlay the areas with VDOT-approved Job Mix SM-9.5A asphalt compacted to an average thickness of 2 inches. Where necessary, overlay with additional asphalt to ensure smooth, level surface and transition to other paving areas. No tapering of asphalt anywhere. 5. Butt joints at concrete and finish edges square. 6. Ensure that any drains, poles, or other fixtures in the area are protected during the performance of this work. 7. Clean and prepare the paving for restriping all parking areas with the following: VDOT will take care of, line marking and painting along with moving parking stops, signs and poles. 8. Include 5,000 SF of patching. Patching should include 6" Mill and Replacement with 4-inches BM-25.0A and 2- inches SM-9.5AL. The area shown in blue has tentatively been identified for patching based on the condition of Core 2. 5,000 SF of BM-25.0A at 4-inches deep will result in approximately 128 tons of BM-25.0A
