Update: This project will include the construction, materials and installation of a new water treatment facility. This would include a filter vessel, water storage and associated appurtenances . This project will be financed utilizing the IEPA SR F loan program. Project is included City of Rockford Fiscal Year 2025-2029 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Water Division operates a system that is comprised of four (4) hydraulic zones and twenty-five (25) groundwater treatment plants. The Water Division has identified a need within the central hydraulic zone to drill a new well and construct a treatment facility with storage. Well 46 was drilled in 2024 and is anticipated to have a final pumping rate between 2,000 and 2,500 gallons per minute and require iron, manganese, and radium treatment. This RFP is for design and bidding-related services of the Well 46 site and water treatment facility, which is generally anticipated to include the following: U46 Pitless Adaptor, Well Motor, and Pump U46 Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Booster Station (BS) 5 million gallon (MG) Ground Storage Tank Backwash Holding Tank Site Improvements Water Main Extension Sanitary Sewer Extension The U46 WTP and BS facility is anticipated to include the following treatment processes: Fluoridation for dental hygiene Polyphosphate for corrosion control Chlorine gas for disinfection and oxidation (including air scrubber) Aeration for oxidation Hydrous Manganese Oxide (HMO) for radium adsorption Filtration for iron, manganese, and radium removal The U46 facility will also contain booster pumps with variable frequency drives, standby power, mechanical equipment, filtration equipment, and associated architectural, structural, mechanical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, electrical, and supervisory control and data acquisition improvements.
