Through this Request for Qualifications, City of Maple Ridge (the “City”) wishes to identify firms experienced and qualified to carry out the construction of a new waterfront multi-use pathway and associated civil works extending from Port Haney Wharf to Kanaka Creek Regional Park, within Maple Ridge, BC. The waterfront multi-use pathway construction project generally includes construction of a 3m wide asphalt multi-use path, with secondary gravel segments, landscaping, armouring along the shoreline (north bank of the Fraser River), construction of a lookout platform, installation of a prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge over a Fraser River tributary, removal of creosote-treated wood piles and cribbing along the shoreline, and the partial removal of a concrete boat ramp. In addition, the project may include but is not limited to the following: Civil and park construction along the Fraser River shoreline, environmentally sensitive areas and/or other regulated watercourses Civil and park construction adjacent to railway lines and railway crossings Civil and park construction on lands that have a potential for archaeological discoveries due to proximity to areas of past recorded archaeological discoveries. Coordinating with First Nations and consultants for archaeological monitoring Demolition and offsite disposal of existing features, both on land and in stream Removal and disposal of creosote-treated wood and/or contaminated soils Removal and disposal of trees and vegetation, including invasive species with special disposal requirements Grading, earthworks and retaining wall construction Armouring shorelines with rip-rap and other instream works Servicing connections as applicable (sanitary, storm, water, electricity) Asphalt and concrete paving Installation of viewing platforms Installation of prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge(s) and abutments over a regulated watercourse Minor road works including paving and line painting Landscaping including tree planting, ornamental trees, shrubs, riparian planting, turf, and restoration planting and establishment, boulders placement, and soil installation. Installation of temporary irrigation for plant establishment Supply and installation of site furnishings, benches, garbage cans, bike racks, drinking fountains, and signage Fencing installation, various types Traffic management plan and traffic control Project administration, including applying for project permits (i.e., building, site servicing, plumbing, electrical permits), obtaining permits and fulfilling permit requirements as outlined by the permitting authorities.
