Project limits are from Boron Avenue downstream to Dutton Meadow. This restoration project will restore 2,450 lineal feet of straightened and denuded channel into a natural creek while still providing flood protection. The new alignment will allow the creek channel to have greater water retention during high demands. There will be structures and pools installed to enhance aquatic life such as boulders, boulder weirs, and over 1,000 native trees, shrubs, and grasses. Human elements include the creation of a bicycle/pedestrian path and pedestrian bridge. Per the owner, as of March 7, 2024, an award has been made for this solicitation. The owner states that the project is anticipated to advertise for bids in January/February 2025 and construction is anticipated to begin in May/June 2025. The current preliminary design includes rough channel grading, geotechnical evaluation, hydraulic modeling, and sediment transport analysis. The channel design has been approved and accepted by Sonoma Water. Current grading design does not include pools, islands or pathways. Storm drain modification design has not been completed. Creek features have been designed but would like designer to provide design alternatives to the multi-log structures used in both previously constructed phases. There is a pedestrian bridge included in the design of which no design related work has been performed except for geotechnical investigation work. No plan sheets, alignment, profile or cross sections have been developed. Erosion control blankets, willow staking for bioengineered erosion control features, and native hydroseed are part of the project, but all container plantings will be performed by others and not considered part of the design.
