Renovation of a recreation facility in Merna, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a recreation facility.
General Project Description: Town of Normal Parks & Recreation Water Slide Renovation Project Anderson Aquatic Center Anderson Aquatic Center is situated on the west side of David S. Anderson Park. The aquatic center features two large, winding water slides along the south pool. The north pool is a lap pool. A large splash pad with both overhead and ground spray features is located on the southernmost portion of the site. A small child-only slide is also included in the splash pad area. PROJECT 1: Anderson Aquatic Center - Tower Structure and Slides Project Description - Refurbish existing slide tower and (2) water slides manufactured by WhiteWater and installed in 2002. Corrosion remediation and refinishing of all structural steel (including all hardware, railings, stairs, and platforms), fiberglass inspection and repair, open slide interior gel coating, slide exterior painting, and caulking of all fiberglass seams. Slide #1 - Blue open flume slide - 32" wide x 124.58' long. Slide #2 - Pink enclosed slide - 32" wide x 122.65' long. o Clean with high-pressure water up to 5,000 p.s.i. using biodegradable degreasing agent and steam/hot water blast where necessary, to remove any grease, oil, loose paint, dirt, and oxidation. o Prepare joints and crevices as needed to create profile for proper adhesion of caulk. Caulk slide joints using Sikaflex 291 - white polyurethane sealant. o Prepare all rusted surfaces with dual action sanders, grinders, and wire wheel. If necessary, prepare areas by hand scraping, sanding, and wire brush. o Make necessary repairs to any damaged areas on fiberglass prior to applying new coat. o Pre-prime corroded surfaces with a film-forming primer that chemically transforms rust, halting the corrosion process and enables the surface to accept a topcoat. o Spot prime all necessary areas including bare steel, corroded areas, rigging scrapes, burnishes, and welds, including fasteners with a premium epoxy primer. o Finish paint slide exteriors (original colors) with a premium polyurethane paint. o Finish paint all structural steel with a premium polyurethane paint. o Resurface interior of open areas of slides with a premium gelcoat to the recommended 20-25 mils Dry Film Thickness. o Apply a high-quality wax to the interior surface of all slides. Fairview Family Aquatic Center The Fairview Family Aquatic Center is located on the east side of Fairview Park. The aquatic center features a large zero-depth activity pool with spray features and a lap area. Two separate water slide structures are located on both the south side and northwest side of the center. A winding water slide is situated on the northwest corner of the facility and a drop-slide structure is located on the south side. A splash pad is located on the west side of the facility. Project 2: Fairview Family Aquatic Center - Tower Structure and Slides Project Description - Refurbish existing slide tower and (3) water slides manufactured by Splashtacular and installed in 2009-2010. Corrosion remediation and refinishing of all structural steel (including all hardware, railings, stairs, and platforms), fiberglass inspection and repair, open slide interior gel coating, slide exterior painting, and caulking of all fiberglass seams. Slide #1 - Blue raft slide - 54" wide x 295.543' long. Slide #2 - Red drop slide - 32" wide x 95.607' long. Slide #3 - Yellow open flume slide - 42" wide x 248.514' long. o Clean with high-pressure water up to 5,000 p.s.i. using biodegradable degreasing agent and steam/hot water blast where necessary, to remove any grease, oil, loose paint, dirt, and oxidation. o Prepare joints and crevices as needed to create profile for proper adhesion of caulk.
