PIC162 Circular Economy Lab Renovate the existing PIC162 open shell space into a new wet lab for the Clean Techs. This will entail new construction of walls, substantial alteration of the mechanical and electrical system, re-finishing concrete flooring, supply of new cabinetry and lab casework, supply of new exhaust hood to fume hoods, and integration of various lab-type infrastructure, i.e. air and water systems. This project is only for building infrastructure, the program funds program equipment. The construction scope of work will be as follows but not limited to (see appendix for drawings and specifications): New perimeter demising wall to underside of structure on the north border. New lab entrance to be a double door located on this wall, complete with card reader. Align a new partial wall u/s of the structure built along the east perimeter with the existing wall. The access door on this new wall allows passage between PIC162 and PIC164 space for emergency egress. West wall to remain. A new glazed door with a leaf is to be cut into this wall to allow access to PIC160. Various mechanical and electrical revisions are required to support the new enclosed lab layout and function. An emergency shower with an eye wash station is required adjacent to the doors in the north wall. Water & drainage connections for the shower are required. Gas detection alarms are required due to the use of hydrogen sulfide. Electrical panel and emergency shut-off button required. Water hookups to all sinks, fume hoods, showers, etc., are regular domestic supply. Space to be fitted with four (5x 18) island lab casework (bench height). Ventilation hoods and associated mechanical and electrical infrastructure (HVAC, building air, vacuum, power, water, drainage) are required. The renovation includes the Fume hoods infrastructure, ventilation hoods, associated integrated millwork, and hook-up. A vented safety gas cabinet is required adjacent to the walk-in fume hoods with associated mechanical and electrical infrastructure (HVAC). Power is required for two ovens at the south end of the row of fume hoods. Power, water, and a drain are required for the dishwasher. Upgrade the diffusers in the space to match other labs. New instruments require air, power, and HVAC on the east wall. Power and HVAC are required on the west wall for flammable fridge and freezer.
