The City of Montrose Downtown Development Authority is requesting proposals from certified general contractors to provide services specified in Scope of Work section of this document. The Scope of Work is based on the provisions as stated below. All work must adhere to applicable standards of the Michigan Building Code. The City is seeking a Certified General Contractor/Builder that can renovate/modify a closely ADA compliant wheelchair ramp. This ramp is located at 154 W. State Street, Montrose, Michigan. The existing ramp based upon engineering review suggests that the ramp appears to meet most of ADA requirements, and the contractor should be able to use the existing substructure and minor modifications to bring it into compliance. ADA/Wheelchair Ramp Ramp shall have two 5' landings with no more than a 8.3% grade. Max of 30""rise between landings. Railings will be replaced with either a metal or composite material with a 12 inch extension at the lowest elevation. All decking, spindles, hand rails and top rails shall be replaced. o New decking can be either structural composite or wood. Please indicate type. Color and type will compliment the building. Contractor will provide information on the brand/type selected. o Spindles, balusters and top rail can be either wood or composite material that will either match or compliment the building or decking color. o Replacing all stairs, handrails adjacent to the ramp o Hidden fasteners shall be used if using composite or screws using wood. o Substructure may need to be modified and or replaced. o Skirting/trim will be replaced with either composite material or wood to match ramp and building. o We encourage prospective bidders/contractors to visit the site at 154 W. State Street before submitting a bid. Safety Requirements The Contractor shall use all proper precautions to protect persons from injury. The Contractor shall be held responsible for all damage and injuries. The Contractor shall adequately protect the work, adjacent property and the public, and shall be responsible for any damage and injuries. The Contractor shall be entirely responsible for all apparatus, equipment as appurtenances as furnished by him in connection with this work until date for final acceptance; special care shall be taken to protect all parts thereof in such a manner as may be necessary or as directed. Precautions shall be executed at all times for the protection of persons including employees and property. The safety provisions of applicable laws, building and construction codes shall be observed. Work will occur only be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, excluding legal holidays,Sunday and inclement weather (Rain Days). Contractor will have to work around building rentals and maintain access to the building during work.
