The City of Leavenworth Kansas Fire Department is accepting bids for concrete driveway replacement The Leavenworth Fire Department is requesting bids to replace a specific amount of concrete driveway based on square foot cost at two of our fire stations. Station 1 located at 3600 S. 20th Street and Station 2 located at 925 Shawnee. This work is budgeted over two years 2023 and 2024. o Tear out specific amount of driveway and remove from site. The city will mark the limits of concrete removal. Contractor shall arrange for disposal. o Removal to include existing concrete and 6" of subgrade. If removing adjacent to existing concrete, saw cut (full depth) at closest joint(s). o Compact base with 6 inches of gravel (AB-3). o Dowel into adjacent concrete with smooth dowels. o Place and consolidate 8 inches of reinforced concrete to city specifications. o Concrete to be reinforced with #4 rebar, 12" OC both ways. Reinforcing mat to be placed on chairs and centered in the concrete (3.5" to 4" chairs). There shall be a minimum of 3" of concrete cover. o Concrete shall be placed with sufficient cross-slope to drain and shall be broom finished. Ponding on completed drive is not acceptable and will be cause for removal and replacement at the contractor's expense. o White-pigmented curing compound to be applied immediately after final finishing. o Cuts/contraction joints shall be a minimum of T/3 in depth. o Cuts/joints to be done as soon as possible after placement. Contractor will be responsible to remove and replace slabs where cracking occurs for failure to properly and timely place contraction joints. Joint spacing to match existing joints and be no more than 16' apart. o Contractor to supply all material, equipment and labor. Concrete Specifications: o KCMMB-4K mix with coarse aggregate of Granite or Trap Rock (Standard City Mix for right-of-ways) Rebar Specification: o Non-epoxy coated, free of rust and oil. Grade 40 minimum.
