Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) requests Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Services for the Design, Bidding and Construction Administration Services for the HVAC Replacement at Oklahoma Rd. Middle, Carroll Springs School, and Mt. Airy Elem. Schools as follows: 1. Provide a review and assessment of the existing heating and cooling systems, and an evaluation of proposed heating and cooling alternatives. This evaluation shall include an explanation of how the different options optimize energy savings. The review and assessment shall include an evaluation of existing ductwork and airflows including observation of duct lining to determine the type and condition of ductwork interior. 2. A scope Study for all three schools is enclosed. CCPS generally accepts the recommendations that are described within the scope study. Provide complete design services including schematic design, design development documents, complete construction documents, bidding services, construction administration services, and warranty services. The design shall be for the selected heating and cooling system, and shall include items related to the scope of work, including but not limited to the following. Recommendations included in the scope study. b. Engineer to evaluate the existing heating baseboard system to determine the possibility of the elimination of the system c. Replacement of all exhaust fans. The project includes the testing and balancing of the system. e. New Kitchen Makeup heating and ventilation unit. f. Complete replacement of fire alarm g. The new generator shall be designed to connect to systems as described in Board of Education of Carroll County Architectural and Engineering Design Standards. h. Engineer shall analyze, evaluate and design, demand control ventilation, year round dehumidification, automatic glycol feeder system, the addition of one single condensing boiler. i. The Mechanical/Electrical Engineer shall initiate and coordinate design criteria with BGE. j. The Mechanical/Electrical Engineer shall initiate load letters and follow thru with all correspondence with BGE to ensure that the gas and electric upgrades, if required, will be available prior to construction. k. The Mechanical/Electrical Engineer shall analyze the existing domestic hot water system and design improvements for more precise 110 degree water delivery plus system controls for optimum energy savings. As of February 13, 2024, the design firm and general contractors have been selected. Construction is slated to begin Summer of 2024. However, the firm timeline has not been disclosed.
